Instructions
Writing a song is all about the want to make music. If you don't have the desire, you most likely will be able to come up with any ideas. It's also suggested to make your song at least 2 mintues but less than 5 or else it might seem like forever until your song ends. Here are some steps to help you get started:
- Step 1: You need to have an idea of what you want to make your song about. Perhaps it can be about food, things you like, relationships, etc. Songs can be about anything!
- Step 2: Once you have your idea. Start thinking of lyrics. You can start off with a summary, some sort of background information or the main idea as your intro.
- Step 3: After you have an idea for your lyrics start thinking of a tune or some chords you would want to play or you like that could go with your lyrics.
- Step 4: Now you have your basic melody. Finish your lyrics with by adding a basic pre-chorus, chorus, more versus, and a bridge. The pre-chorus doesn't have to be long and neither do the verses but make sure your chorus is kinda catch but noticable as the chorus.
- Step 5: Now you can start putting together the pieces of your song. Start by piecing the lyrics and the melody together. You can try and fit the lyrics to the melody or change the rhythm to fit the lyrics. It is suggested to keep the melody similar for the other verses.
- Step 6: For the pre-chorus and chorus try and get the pre-chorus to flow into the chorus but other than that, how you want it to sound and fit is up to you.
- Step 7: Finally we have the bridge. The bridge is a resolution of the song in a way. Not all songs have a bridge so you don't need one but for most songs it can be nice. You need your bridge to sound different for the majority of the song. It can be similar to other parts such as the chorus, pre-chorus, or verse but since there is only one bridge, it'd be nice to have a small change. Once you've decided how and what you want your bridge to sound like, you can end your song with the chorus.
